In keeping with this tradition of excellence, The Country Squire has now opened its own working winery in the 18th Century portion of the restaurant building. The Tartan Tasting Room & Gift Shop is a new addition, open to visitors from Wednesday to Saturday (and by special appointment)

Both Lennon and her daughter Loraine Smith hail from Scotland. They decided that starting up Duplin County's second winery was a good way to attract visitors off the N.C. 24 Bypass and nearby I-40 - and at the same time add a new dimension to the already successful Country Squire.

Many of the wines at The Country Squire are named after favorite areas at the Squire and the wine label design is reflective of the Lennons' Scottish heritage. The new creations were a big hit at the Muscadine Festival held in late September in Kenansville. Country Squire wines are now available for purchase through both the gift shop and restaurant.

HOUSE WINES

Baronial Red Cabernet
Traditional bold red with traces of spice. This Cabernet is full of berries with a flavorsome finish.

Court Yard Maiden Riesling
Classic Riesling, aromatic in nature, has a balanced acidity with honeysuckle nuances. Refreshing to the palate.

Jester's Folly Pinot Grigio
Zesty, Italian white, filled with a theatrical aroma and surprising flavor. A real treat for the taste buds.

Rustic Tavern Red Merlot
A silky, dry red with notes of black current and pepper. This easy-style wine is medium bodied with a smooth finish.

Sunken Garden Thistle White Zinfandel
A semi-sweet plum colored blush, full bodied with heady fruit. A cut above the rest!

Squire's Best Chardonnay
Polished in texture, this classic Chardonnay is reminiscent of the honey. "The Wine of Old." Versatile in flavor, matches well with many dishes.

Apple Orchard Riesling
Bite into this distinctive Riesling! Fresh and crisp, the Granny Smith Apple prevails. Perfect as is.

Black Knight Cabernet
A perfect blend of red and white grapes infused with the lush ripeness of sweet black berries. Unique in style, enjoy as a dessert wine. Delicious on its own.

Highlander Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot
Lightly spiced with hints of oak, this medium bodied red is a smooth blend of Cabernet, Sauvignon and Merlot grapes.

Pride of Scotland Chardonnay
